The virgin coconut oil that we use in the production of our products are produced from fresh coconuts, which originates from Sri Lanka. The virgin coconut oil is produced from certified organic coconuts. Our partner and supplier, Daintee Limited ensures that product testing and certification which certifies their virgin coconut oil for quality and safety are done professionally.
Various tests are conducted to certify that the virgin coconut oil meets the international standards and directives that are endorsed by leading quality and safety marks. The entire production process of extraction of the virgin coconut oil is certified organic by a USDA approved Certifier and other quality certification bodies such as Halal Accreditation Council Sri Lanka, Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), EU Organic Farming Certification, German Technical Inspection association (TÜV SÜD).
Testing and certification done to ensure that our organic virgin coconut oil meets the required quality and safety standards. We have engaged reputable and world recognized experts, SGS, SIRIM and University Science of Malaysia (USM) to carry out the testing and certification locally. These experts conduct various tests on our organic virgin coconut oil for biological and chemical impurities, nutritional analysis, fatty acid contents, stability and shelf life determination
Microbiology Tests to determine the existence of bacteria/ fungus/ microbiology in the oils To ensure the oil is not contaminated with bacteria/fungus growth such as E. Coli, yeast , mould, Salmonella, etc that may jeopardize consumer’s health.
Heavy Metal Test
Heavy Metal Test to determine the amount of toxic heavy metals such as Arsenic, Lead, Mercury and Cadmium that may be present in the product due to certain environmental factors and exposure. Even a small amount of the above heavy metals can be detrimental and dangerous to consumer’s health.
Porcine Detection to determine traces of porcine DNA. Malaysia is a Muslim country; hence, the porcine DNA test is compulsory and an added advantage for the Halal and vegetarian market.
Stability & Shelf Life Study
Stability & Shelf Life Study to determine the stability and shelf life of a product. An essential test as food product or pharmaceutical products need to display the expiry date on its label and this is to be supported by a valid data. The test is conducted on a monthly basis for a period of 2 years to check the stability of the products every month based on each batch of production.
Medium Chain Fatty Acids Test
To determine the value of free fatty acids such as Lauric, Capric, Caprylic and Caproic in the coconut oil. The main health benefits of VCO is due to its richness in Lauric and Capric acid, that contributes towards the anti-bacterial, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory properties and increases immune system and many more.
The Nutrition Analysis is compulsory in any food/ Consumable products. It is in accordance to Labelling Law, and in Malaysia, it uses the FDA guideline. Nutritional analysis for mandatory nutrients that includes Protein, Sugar Profile, Moisture, Total Dietary Fiber, Sodium, Iron, Calcium, Cholesterol, Vitamin A & C, Carbohydrate, Calories, Calories from Fat, Fat Profiling (total, sat, mono, poly and trans fat)
Product Safety tests such as skin irritation and skin sensitization using In Vitro EpiDerm method is currently being conducted on our VCO cosmetic products. Bio-assays using cell-based for: Anti-aging, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and skin lightening. The anti-oxidant bio-assays are currently being conducted on our VCO softgels and the skin lightening bio-assays on our VCO infused with essential oil serums.
Poison & Drug Screening Test
Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) Analysis
Gas Chromatography (GC) is a technique used for analyzing and quantifying organic volatile and semi-volatile compounds.
Unknown Poison Screening
An analysis is conducted to determine the existence of any unknown poison in the oil.
Cholesterol Lowering Drug Screening
This test is conducted to validate VCO’s natural capability in lowering cholesterol. This screening is conducted to ensure there are non-presence of drugs such as Gemfibrozil, Fenofibrate, Simvastatin and Pravastatin that have the effect of lowering cholesterol level being added to the virgin coconut oil.
“ON GOING STUDIES”
Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Standards Studies is a set of principles intended to assure the quality and integrity of non-clinical laboratory studies that are intended to support research and marketing permits for products regulated by government agencies. We are currently working with a renowned local institution that issues the GLP certificate upon completion of the study. The certificate is highly recognized worldwide and is essential in exporting the products internationally.
